Taraneh Javanbakht was born in Tehran (Iran) in May 1974. She received her B.S. degree in chemistry in Tehran in June 1996 and came to Paris in 1997 to complete her studies.  In Paris she earned a M.S.c and doctorate at Pierre and Marie Curie University. She currently resides in Montreal, Canada.

Her works have been published in various literary journals and magazines in Iran, and she has published two books of poetry in Iran, The Cups Of Speech and The Age Of Mirror, which contain lyric and modern poems.
