THE LAST ROSE OF TIME

Dawn became dusk and day became doom,
and all the flowers refused to bloom.
The sun never rose, the night never knew,
the butterfly never kissed the dew.
But still there where the sunrays froze,
there stood one lonely red rose;
and that, my love, was you.

Then dusk turned into dawn, and doom to day,
and a flower bloomed for every ray.
A butterfly danced on every petal;
the zephyr softened every metal.
But, by that time, my dear, you were gone.
Your petals were broken, my heart was battered
and my only hope of love was shattered.
