Birgitta Jonsdottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland 1967. She has lived in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, England, USA, Australia, New Zealand & The Netherlands. She is currently living in Iceland. Birgitta has been active in the Icelandic literature, music, & art scenes for 20 years and is considered one of the pioneers in bringing The Arts to the Internet. Her first book of poetry, Frostdinglar (Icicles), was published when she was twenty by one of Iceland's leading publishers. Her art has been exhibited in the USA, Asia, Oceania and Europe. She has performed and lectured at festivals around the world. Her work has been published in anthologies, TV, Radio, Magazines, Newspapers & on the Internet all over the world. Birgitta has also organised events such as Craters on the Moon, first live video broadcast on the Internet from Iceland 1996, Dialogue among nations through poetry 2001 and Artists against the War 2003. Her work has been translated to 12 languages. In 2003 she published 10 chapbooks in Icelandic, 2 in English, went to an international poetry festival in Romania, and edited a local newspaper in Russell, New Zealand. Recent places her work has appeared in are Short Fuse - global anthology, Rattapallax Press 2002, Möbius 20th anniversary issue 2002, the Journal 2002, Black Listed Journalist 2003, Blackmail Press 2003, Other Voices International Project 2004 and the anthologies The Company we Keep 2003 & Listening to the Birth of Crystals 2003. In 2002 she edited and published the Book of Hope & the World Healing Book, global anthologies. Birgitta is a member of United Poets & the Icelandic Writers Union. She is currently working on two projects with Michael Lohr, related to Norse Fey and Mythology. Michael is also editing her Novel “The Diary of the Chameleon”. In 2004 her sound poetry CD “Fragments” will be released. A collection of work she has done with various musicians through the years.
