Country Loving
We meandered close to hedges
Amid
the wild thorns scratches
Which
tore and rent our clothes
Cold
east wind bit our faces
Fresh
air filled our lungs
Clinging
close together
Under
the weak and wintry sun
That night
As
we lay together
Naked
in that field of clay
And
rutted in the cold night air
Joined
as one by love, we lay
We
screamed in our crescendo
On
the cold red earth below
Our
freedom and our passion
As
nature held us in her arms
The
seed we gave was blessed
As
the farmer tills his land
I
filled my woman’s womb
Love
had fertilised the land
We
breathlessly lay together
Bound
forever
By
two golden bands.
