Born in London to Maltese parents in 1978, Antoine Cassar grew up and studied in England, Malta, Italy and Spain. He is currently completing a doctoral thesis on the origins of the sonnet. He lives in Luxembourg, where he works as a translator.

A writer of multilingual verse, the first series of Cassar's mużajki or mosaics was published in the Maltese anthology Ħbula stirati (Tightropes) in July 2007. A handful of mosaics have also appeared in publications in Italy (Nuovi Argomenti), Kuwait (The Daily Star), Australia (The Chimaera) and the U.S. (The Drunken Boat). In May 2008, Antoine Cassar performed at the Biennale of Young Artists of Europe and the Mediterranean in Bari, Italy (see video).

An avid literary translator, Antoine Cassar is currently preparing a selection of Pablo Neruda's poetry in Maltese. He has also rendered into English the work of a number of his fellow contemporary Maltese poets for publication at home and abroad.
