Charles Bernstein was born in Manhattan in 1950. He has published over twenty collections of poetry and three collections of essays, including Girly Man, My Way: Speeches and Poems and With Strings, from the University of Chicago Press, Republics of Reality: Poems 1975-1995, from Sun & Moon Press, and Shadowtime (Green Integer) and Blind Witness (Factory School). From 1978-1981 he co-edited. with Bruce Andrews. L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E magazine. In the 1990s, he co-founded and directed the Poetics Program at the State University of New York – Buffalo. Bernstein is the co-director, with Al Filries, of PennSound (writing.upenn.edu/pennsound) and editor of the Electronic Poetry Center (epc.buffalo.edu). He is Donald T.
