Common Sense
I am naked on my bed,
this morning is cold.
I wonder why.
Water from mud wells,
So full of mud.
I wonder why.
There is too much heat,
The sun is scorching.
I wonder why.
It is raining cat & dogs,
My clothes are wet.
I wonder why.
There is no food in kitchen,
Children are wailing.
I wonder why.
Everything is up there,
Nothing is down here.
I wonder why.
The sun is gone, the moon is come,
Darkness rules.
I wonder why.
We have wings that cannot fly.
Star after star, the sky is high.
Strength to climb mounts we dare not climb.
Water in our eyes but no urge to cry.
Money is everything but the rich still die.
Open spaces but mind not the sky.
Too much information and one is called a spy.
Plenty but many cannot have a pie.
Schism, we will understand by and by.
Wisdom but folks call it wry.
Too much thirst and the wells are dry.
Babies wail, no one sings a lullaby.
Common sense bleeds, people wonder why
Dusk dies and night is nigh.
Undisciplined children,
Parent who scold.
I wonder why.
They say everything Aesop said
Was a fable.
I wonder why.
Last year’s infant now
Grown by inches.
I wonder why.
Too many problems,
Woman begin to fret.
I wonder why.
No preparation, abundance
Of failing.
I wonder why.
He has everything, he does
Not seem to care.
I wonder why.
Sages call the selfish
By names of fools.
I wonder why.
Death has visited every house,
Especially that of the old.
Too many languages,
It feels like Babel.
Why is a night filled
With too many lights?
Impulsive youth sobbing
In deep regret.
Carnage and woe,
Men are crawling.
The rules keep changing,
Players say it is unfair.
So much ignorance, no brain
To learn what is in schools.
Better to fail while it is harder to try?
I still wonder why.
