I may never become
I may never become an open book to you
even had I wanted to
I will always be a puzzle
and intentionally so
not a puzzle though
that perplexes and worries
not one that fills with dismay
not one that threatens your security
but rather one that says
excite me, move me
for each piece of me is a fragment
of a fantasy to be fed
an imagination waiting
to be stirred, a love
that seeks a chapter, a past
that seeks a witness
waiting to be told
I will always be
a half-finished puzzle
a half-open book
to you
and yet
each conversation turns a page of me
each day spent together plugs a piece
that completes the scenery
as slowly I become
page by page and piece by piece
a story uncovered
a mystery revealed.
