Edessa Ramos is the author of several stories and poems which have appeared in various publications around the world, including the Ticking Along Free Anthology in Switzerland, Tulikärpänen in Finland, In Our Own Voice USA, the Univ. of Illinois’ Red Shoes Literary Review, Philippine Times Chicago, Filipinas Magazine San Francisco, Filipino Martial Arts Magazine New York, Film Podium and Wendekreis in Zürich, Philippine Women's Forum in Germany, the Star Quilt Journal in Bangalore, Caracoa Poetry Journal, Malaya News and Midweek Magazine in Manila, plus many internet publications. She has published 2 collections of poetry and stories, Alone on the Road at Night and In A Quiet Place.

As a performer, she has been in festivals in Chicago, Durban, Medellin, Manila, Berne and Zurich. Her experience as a theater artist spans 15 years of directing, scriptwriting, production design and acting, plus founding theater groups in Chicago and Zurich. As a martial artist, she travels often to teach self-defense using the Filipino art of weaponry.

Her poems are inspired by decades of political struggle, personal hardships, a complex search for self-definition, and fierce defense of identity.
