Volunteer tomato

I create my color
as a call to consume.
So when you see me,
see me with hungry eyes.

When you tear my skin between your teeth
and hear with ears my lush guts burst,
feel with me my spurt-squirt gush,
enter my joy in surrender.

When you taste my rendering
of sun, earth, air, and rain,
make in your mouth a mix
of your juices and mine.

As I become you,
celebrate my becoming,
that when we die again,
we can show death how to do it.
