Soothing Moments

My soul, lately troubled, feels sedated:
My weary spirit freshened, reinvigorated
By a cool, caressing light breeze
That travels landwards across the seas.
Its salty wares on my lips settle,
Translucent, dry, coarse as nettle.
My senses imbibe the unfolding sight
Watching nature ghsten on the verge of night.

I see the sun, ablaze, submerging,
Into unruffled waters while night is surging.
In the throes of its convulsive pangs
It fierily emits from its scorched lungs
A torrent of blood, crisp scarlet red
That smears the unsoiled sky as it is shed.
Calmly, the creeping, swelling, reddish hue
Blankets the sky's seductive deep blue.

Abruptly, a silhouette cuts across the sky,
Tearing the gaping silence with a shrill cry.
A wandering, solitary gull irreverently croaks
While the earth watches, hushed, as the sun soaks
Its smouldering mass, it blinding, blazing rays.
I stare, transfixed, at the sun's majestic ways.
By the melee of colours the blue sky is tinged
While the distant horizon by the sun's rays is singed.

All too soon, the black cloak of night
Erases all traces of the solar light.
In its place instead countless diamonds shine
Divinely culled from a celestial mine.
In the enveloping darkness I strongly sense
The pervading aura of God's presence.
I breathe, relaxed, lulled into safety
In a cot of faith in the world's Deity.
