Mani Rao has lived in India, New Zealand and is now based in Hong Kong.

Her poetry has been published as books, and in journals and anthologies. The books are Wingspan, Catapult Season, Living Shadows, Salt, The Last Beach and Echolocation.

Living Shadows and The Last Beach are bilingual collections and include Chinese translations, Living Shadows has been translated into French, and several other representative pieces from Mani’s writing have been translated into Chinese. Short videos have been made based on her poetry from Salt.

Mani has read and performed in pubs and cafes, universities and festivals, collaborated with visual artists, edited a poetry anthology, and taught creative writing in schools. She is also one of the founders of OutLoud readings in Hong Kong.
