Shirin Razavian: British poet born August 1967 in Tehran, has been writing poetry since the age of 9. She has studied Persian and English literature and due to the present situation in Iran and lack of freedom of expression and censorship, she fled her country and started building a new life in London. Her first Persian poetry book was published in London in October 1995. She has worked with the Iranian P.E.N Centre in exile as the International Secretary for 2 periods of 2 years. Presently a member of the chair committee of Exiled Writer Ink! Shirin's second book was published in June 1999 called The Sad Universality of Oyster. Third book named Sweet Sonnets was published March 2001 includes 50 Ghazals on social and political themes. Her first English book of poetry called Rainbow of Memories is being published in London which is a selection of poems by Shirin Razavian and Richard McKane the well known poet and translator of Russian poets like Anna Akhmatova and Turkish genius Nazim Hikmet.
