George W. Bush: On Dad

I'm number forty-three. He's forty-one.
Sharing the experience of office
has brought us closer. I don't have to guess
the pressures he must have felt. It's no fun,
always on call, making the decisions
that affect the world. This public service
is big business. My dad understood this,
ran the country like a corporation.
He was a genius, really, not given
his due for how he transformed government,
taking Ronnie Reagan's lead, and pushing
farther. My dad was a great man, driven
by love of country. I feel I've been sent
to complete his work. It's near finishing.
