Originally from Dearborn Heights, Michigan, Kevin Patrick Sullivan settled on the central coast of California in 1975. In 1982 he self-published his first book of poems and stepped out into the world of poetry.

He is the Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the award-winning Annual San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival/Corners of the Mouth, a monthly reading series since 1984.

In 2001 the festival received it's own 501(c) (3) non-profit status, with Kevin as president.

He is the author of several chapbooks and one trade book First Sight, Mille Grazie Press, Santa Barbara. He has been published in a number of literary journals, including SOLO, Cafˇ Solo, ARTLIFE, and HUMMINGBIRD.

He has had two of his poems turned into chorals. One performed by an adult mixed choir and one performed by a high school choir, in this country and in Europe.

He is an editor for SOLO Press where he co-edited with Elizabeth Carmo, Solo Café 1, Songs Of The Goddess, A Journal Of Poetry, and is currently co-editing Solo Cafˇ 2, Oppression and Forgiveness, A Journal of Poetry, due out in November 2006.

Sulllivan participated in both of the "Between The Lines" projects, a limited edition artist's book with poets writing poems in response to specific pieces of art.

He has read his work locally and internationally. Some of the venues include Cody's Books in Berkeley, The Abbott Kinney Library in Venice Beach, The Bristol International Poetry Festival, Bristol England, The Paddington International Poetry Festival, in London, England and the Santa Barbara Poetry Festival, Santa Barbara, CA.

In 2001, Kevin received an Arts Recognition Award from the San Luis Obispo County Arts Council for of his work in providing a forum for the poet's voice in the community.

He was honored by the San Luis Obispo City Council as the 2003 City Poet Laureate.

In 2005 he was commissioned by the Community Arts Foundation to write two poems for "Artie, Angling For Assets", their entry in Trout About Town exhibit, sponsored by the City of San Luis Obispo, as a benefit for the Prado Day Center.

He lives with his wife, the artist Patti Sullivan, in San Luis Obispo, CA., where he works as a grounds worker for a local school district.
