Pouran Farokhzad was born in 1933 into a military family of six siblings. She is a renowned contemporary Iranian poet, editor, translator and author of several acclaimed books and anthologies. Pouran's younger sister Forough is one the most influential women poets in any language. Her brother was assassinated in France for his outspoken political views against the current regime in Iran. Pouran lives and works in Tehran, Iran.
