Leila Montour was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. A Muslim convert since 1996, she holds a BA in English and Women's Studies, is the mother of two daughters, and a freelance writer. Interested in activism, art, and human rights with a focus on women and children, her prose and poetry have appeared in independent Muslim magazines in Canada, India, Australia, and on websites such as Muslim Wake Up! She is a member of the Islamic Writers Alliance and appears in their first anthology, Many Voices, One Faith. This summer, several of her poems will be published in the upcoming anthology Voices of Resistance: Muslim Women on War, Faith and Sexuality. In addition to writing, family, and activism, her digital art collages have appeared in the God Loves Beauty Interfaith Festival last year in Los Angeles. She currently lives with her husband and daughters in Tulsa, Oklahoma. |
