Roger Aplon was born, Chicago, Illinois. Raised on the southeast side near Lake Michigan & Jackson Park.  Attended Hyde Park High School.  Discovered Jazz: Herbie Mann, The Jazz Messengers, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Billy Holiday . . . Attended The University of Illinois–Urbana & The University of Chicago. Began writing poems & stories. Helped found CHOICE Magazine with Aaron Siskind & John Logan. Attended Roosevelt University (completed Bachelor of Arts Degree twenty-five years later). 1965 – Son, Jason, born. Worked as a bartender & restaurant manager. 1967 – Divorced. Moved to California – San Francisco. 1976 – Stiletto Published (Dryad Press). 1983 – By Dawn's Early Light at 120 Miles Per Hour Published (Dryad Press). 1992 – Married Ellen. 1996 – It's Mother's Day Published (Barracuda Press). 1998 – Moved to Barcelona, Spain. 2000 – Catalan Edition of Barcelona Diary Published. Returned to US. 2001 – Widowed. September 2002 American Edition Barcelona Diary Published. Began reading & recording with Improvisational Music Ensemble Wormhole. (See: accretions.com).
