Margot Van Sluytman offers courses, talks, retreats, and workshops on writing as healing. She inspires/instructs individuals to write their souls onto the page, using the simple mantra: think by feeling.

She is a published poet, writing instructor, and small press publisher, who has guest lectured at universities, colleges, multi-faith centers, and schools in Canada and the US. She offers one-on-one and group mentoring sessions where individuals come to dialogue with their process of healing and meaning, coming to value their voice in all that is their life. To witness. To respond.

Her current book: Dance With Your Healing~tears let me begin to speak , is used by facilitators, counselors, teachers, professors, in Canada, the United States, and England.

Her father was murdered in Canada in 1978, nine years after she moved with her family to Canada from Guyana, SA, choosing Canada for a better life. The irony of his death at the age of 39, has coloured and shaped her life in a very poignant manner, and has gifted her with the ability to share with others in their journey with and through their process of grief and grieving. Of loss. Of speaking and writing their ache, their questions, their hope, their voice, upon a page, pages.

Margo has been invited to read with Theologian Ronald Rolheiser, from her book: Of Dark Night: poems of journey - poems of arrival , and has had the pleasure of dialoguing in a deeply kindred manner with Edwina Gately, modern-day Mystic and Healer, who owns Margot's work: morning tasting whispers . Several of Margot's poetry books are used for the Poetry in the Waiting Room Project in Southampton, England.

Her faith has offered her a depth of understanding that affords her a life that is rich, that understands much of how pain and sorrow can, over time, transform us and teach us so that we in turn can be part of another's unfolding and transformation.

Margot's poetry has been published in magazines and eZines across Canada, SA, and the US. She has published eight poetry books, including: Feeding Dreams , Bleeding Pupils and Beauty Alba the Spanish Woman, Studying Love , and Of Dark Night . Her seventh book of poetry, morning tasting whispers, was launched in the Spring of 2006. somewhere beyond: poems dancing with godde, god, pilgrimage, and pulsating love, will be launched in Calgary in Spring 2007. She is currently writing a book called: Layers of Possibility: Healing Poems From the National Association for Poetry Therapy Members, which will be used in several countries around the world for healing and mentoring.

Margot has created a six segment TV show entitled: Dance With Your Words: Poetry is Art and Healing , which began airing in Ontario in the Spring of 2006.  Her book, Dance With Your Healing: tears let me begin to speak, Poetry and Journal for Your Healing Words , accompanies this series.

She is an active Member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy, and works closely with her Mentor and friend, Perie Longo, PhD, RPT, offering work with words that changes people's lives, one word, one moment, at a time.
