Jeannette L. Clariond, born in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico, in 1949, poet and translator, holds an Undergraduate Degree in Philosophy and Masters Degrees in Methodology of the Sciences,  Spanish Literature, and Visual Arts. 

Collaborator for many years in the cultural section of both El Norte, Nuevo León’s most important newspaper, and La Jornada Semanal, in México City, she is also advisor for the magazine Movimiento Actual and for the Museum of Mexican History and the Museum of Mina, Nuevo León. Her work has been presented at different conferences, both nationally and internationally and has been published in diverse national and international magazines and newspapers. (Letras Libres, El País, La Jornada, among others).

Her translations include:

  • Antología, Roberto Carifi, Italian-Spanish bilingual edition, Papeles Privados, 1997.
  • La Tierra Santa, Alda Merini, bilingual edition in Pre-textos, 2001.
  • Zodiaco Negro, Charles Wright, worked under the auspices of the Rockefeller Foundation Fund, 2002.

Ms. Clariond’s publications are:

She is now working on  a book based on the poetry of poet Gonzalo Rojas Pizarro as well as an anthology of Italian poet Alda Merini and a translation of A Brief History of the Shadow by Charles Wright.  In addition, Ms. Clariond is working side-by-side with Harold Bloom on an anthology of contemporary North American poetry that will include works of 15 poets.
